SportyCo

Does investing in Cryptos intrigue you? Do you wish to have been part of the successful careers of Floyd Mayweather, Michael Jordan, or any other big-name?

A company named SportyCo is bringing both domains together. Intrigued yet? I am as well.

Let me explain from the beginning and it will all make sense then.

Now and then, we hear a story of a famous athlete who was backed in the initial phase of his career financially, emotionally, or through other ways from family, friends or even strangers, and now by making them part of his brands. And we all wish we had the chance  to do the same and enjoy the perpetual returns that ensued.

Major conglomerates, corporations, and people commanding extensive amounts of capital have already been doing this. And this is where SportyCo enters, introducing a brand-new industry of sports crowd micro-financing while providing athletes, clubs, and sports organizations with macro-funding on their respective ends. The company provides the general public with the chance to leverage its Smart Manager Platform to become a sports investor. The Smart Manager Platform is a blockchain-based sports crowdfunding platform, acting as an intermediary connecting those with an active need for funding with contributing crowds on micro-level.

Anyone connected with sports will be able to create a profile listing their current achievements, future plans and expectations, and also the types of investment they are looking for in order to finance their goals. On the other hand, the SportyCo Smart Manager Platform will allow the public to get involved in sports on a personal level - for instance, acquiring a stake in the career path of a young athlete by supporting them financially as they progress.

Smart Manager Platform provides SPF Tokens, which is a fully ERC20 compatible utility token of value and operates on the Ethereum platform. The platform will have two main pillars: a cryptocurrency-based donations platform (the donation module), and a cryptocurrency financial reward-based platform (the investment module).

Through the investment module, an investor will be able to invest into athletes, team, clubs or other sports organizations and in exchange for an upfront investment amount, for example:

  • A share of future image rights of an athlete;
  • A share of future sponsorship proceeds;
  • Commercial rights relationships;
  • A share of transfer rights;
  • Other athlete's economic rights.
To make it simpler, here's an example:

*starts imagining to be a % owner in Cristiano Ronaldo's 1 billion+ net worth.

Before you start imagining it too, let me stop you there and tell you - even though this seems to be a great opportunity to diversify your portfolio, but keep in mind high returns come with high risk.

The risk that the athlete, team, club, or the sports organization you would choose to invest in may not be able to reach their full potential/the level at which they would be able to repay the initial amount invested in them let alone returns above that. Only 1 in 16,000 high school athletes attain a professional career in sports. Above that, not every athlete can build and maintain a brand like Ronaldo's/Kohli's. You might have recently heard about this individual -

Mason Greenwood, the 19-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault of his girlfriend, was suspended by his club, Manchester United until further notice, and also lost his Nike sponsorship.

or this individual -
S.Sreesanth, who was accused of match-fixing, lost his entire career even though he was later found to be innocent by court. The 39-year-old has recently got back to playing with a dream to get back into the Indian national team, which to be fair seems a little far-fetched.

Another risk is that the regulation of cryptocurrencies remains in an unsettled state, as the lack of a centralized authority can be legal and financial risk to cryptocurrency owners.

Keeping all this in mind and the fact that this industry is still new with the potential to grow, this seems to be a great opportunity to diversify your portfolio.

So what do you think of this opportunity? Would you be interested to invest in a future Roger Federer/
